FAQ

flopathon.cc

Where does the data come from?

All player count data comes from Steam's publicly available concurrent player statistics. This is the same data that powers tools like SteamDB. We present it through a community-driven lens with voting, trends, and commentary.

How often is the data updated?

Player counts are updated continuously in real time. Charts reflect the latest available data from Steam at any given moment.

Is this site just for "failed" games?

No. Flopathon tracks player counts regardless of whether a game is doing well or dying. If a game is thriving, the numbers will show that too. Data doesn't celebrate or mourn - it tells the truth.

How does voting work?

Every visitor can cast one vote per game: Flop or Hot. Votes are tallied and displayed as a community verdict on each game's page. No account is required to vote.

Can I suggest a game to track?

Yes. We actively take suggestions for new titles to monitor. Join our Discord or reach out on X/Twitter to submit your picks.

Why the military language?

The over-the-top language - "targets", "enlist", "field reports" - is inspired by Helldivers. It's comedic framing, not a literal call to arms. We track player counts, not people.

Is Flopathon affiliated with Steam or Valve?

No. Flopathon is an entirely independent project. We are not affiliated with Valve, Steam, SteamDB, or any game publisher or developer.

How is Flopathon funded?

Flopathon is funded through community donations and advertising. We do not accept payments from game publishers or developers. The site operates independently with minimal hosting costs.

Steam numbers aren't the full picture. Why focus on them?

We agree - Steam CCU is one metric among many. But it's the only major public metric available to players. Console platforms don't share equivalent data. Until they do, Steam concurrent players remain the most transparent indicator of a game's health.

I'm a journalist. How can I contact you?

DMs are open on X/Twitter and Discord. We're happy to talk on or off the record.

Someone is harassing others in the community. How do I report it?

Join our Discord and report the behavior to moderators. We don't tolerate harassment of individuals - developers, players, or anyone else. Flopathon tracks data, not people.
